I read today that rapper Shai Linne caught a lot of flak for one of his songs (“Fal$e Teacher$”). In it, the artist criticizes the message of several of our culture’s better-known “prosperity gospel” preachers. It’s not my point in this post to criticize or to defend either Shai Linne or the preachers of prosperity that he has taken on. I really have mixed feelings about writing this post. The last thing on earth I want to do is to add to the already excessive sensationalism in print. Neither do I want to capitalize on someone else’s immense pain to make a point.
